King’s Business School Launches New Sustainable Business Centre
King’s Business School’s new Centre for Sustainable Business was launched last week with a panel discussion exploring the questions that the Centre has been established to answer.
Chaired by Akshat Rathi, Senior Reporter for Climate at Bloomberg, Tanya Steele CBE, UK Chief Executive, WWF UK; Sue Armstrong Brown, Global Director of Environmental Standards and Thought Leadership at the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project); Adam Elman, Head of Sustainability EMEA, Google and recent King’s Business School graduate, Caroline Klaris, (BSc Business Management, 2022) all discussed their concerns around progress on environmental sustainability, as well as highlighting some of the concrete change that is making a difference.
The discussions followed a day of workshops for sustainability researchers to gain feedback from peers on their research plans and spark new ideas.
We know that businesses are serious about sustainability and addressing climate change, but the way forward is difficult and that change is needed fast. As a business school, we can contribute by educating the next generation of activist leaders and, through our research, by identifying practical ideas that will help to drive that change. Through the Centre for Sustainable Business and our collaboration with experts from across King’s, we will accelerate that impact.
Professor Stephen Bach, Executive Dean, King’s Business School
The King’s Business School Centre for Sustainable Business will develop practical answers to the question: ‘What do businesses need to do to transition to socially and environmentally sustainable practices?’ With an emphasis on direct engagement with businesses and other organisations, it will explore four key themes: sustainable consumption, sustainable business systems, sustainable finance and leadership for sustainability.
