Kiran Nadar Museum of Art announces online photography competition

New Delhi – The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art is hosting an online nationwide photography competition for school students. This initiative aims to provide an excellent opportunity for all school-going children to showcase their talent and win exciting prizes.

This contest is a tribute to World Photography Day (August 19), a day to pay homage to this art form, remember the present and leave a positive trail for the future. KNMA celebrates world photography day, with the hope of inspiring children to explore photography and encourage kindness and positivity, as the world continues its battle against the coronavirus.

The theme for this online competition is ‘Act of Kindness’, young photographers are encouraged to look at the world around them, find creative opportunities to capture an ‘Act of Kindness’ and showcase it on a public platform with international reach. The winning photograph will be showcased to the world on the KNMA website, as well as in the museum’s ‘Wall of Fame’. The initiative is to highlight young talent and inspire them.

The idea for this competition was born during our recent lockdown, as India fell victim to the second wave. With so many inspiring and encouraging stories of absolute strangers helping each other out, this competition aims to capture these meaningful moments in life and preserve them as a moment in history that should not be forgotten, instead used as a learning mechanism for future generations.

The competition is open to budding young photographers (born on or after January 1, 2004).

Any person residing in India can participate. The winner will get Rs 50,000 cash vouchers with a total prize worth over Rs 150,000. All participants will receive e-participation certificates. Submissions can only be made through the official KNMA website (https://www.knma.in/knma-shutterbugs). One entry per participant is permitted. The competition is open for entries from August 19, 2021, and will be accepting entries until September 19, 2021. The winner will be announced by October 2, 2021 on the KNMA website. Hurry up and send in those entries!

The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art

Established by art collector Kiran Nadar in 2010, the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA) is the first privately-funded museum of art exhibiting modern and contemporary works from India and the sub-continent. Located in New Delhi NCR, India’s capital city, KNMA hosts an ever-growing collection of artworks that both highlights a magnificent generation of 20th-century Indian painters from the post- Independence decades and engages with the different art practices of younger contemporaries.

Sponsored by the Shiv Nadar Foundation, KNMA is focused on bridging the gap between art and the public and fostering a museum-going culture in India. KNMA aims to become a place for confluence, dialogue and collaboration through its curatorial initiatives and exhibitions, school and college workshops, art appreciation discourses, symposiums, and public programs.
