Korea Maritime & Ocean University: IMO Secretary-General Lim Ki-taek invited a special lecture
On the 22nd, our university invited Im Ki-taek, Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) , and held the ‘KMOU Anchor Forum – New Ocean Special Lecture ‘ .
Secretary-General Ki-taek Lim is an alumnus of our university who graduated from the Department of Navigation in 1977 (Class 73 , Class 29 ) . He began his tenure as secretary-general at the International Maritime Organization, a specialized organization in the shipping sector under the UN, in 2016 , and succeeded in re-election in 2020 , where he is currently serving .
At the special lecture held on this day with about 500 members including faculty and students in attendance, Secretary General Lim Gi-taek gave a lecture on the theme of ‘ The New Maritime Era and the Role of Korea Maritime University ‘ . The purpose of this special lecture is to share the vision of the new ocean and strengthen the capabilities of its members .
In a special lecture, Secretary General Lim Ki-taek addressed the students, “ Now is the best time to advance overseas, as the world demands advanced technologies related to shipping and shipbuilding . ” You have to make good use of it , ” he advised .
As this special lecture is related to strengthening the core competencies of members, such as acquiring maritime-related expertise and cultivating fusion and complex thinking , the impact given to the participants of the special lecture is expected to be considerable .
