Korea Maritime & Ocean University: Lifelong Education Center, conducts pilot operation of 「 Primary Survival Swimming in the Sea in 2022 」

The Lifelong Education Center ( Director Woo-Jeong Cho ) is conducting a pilot trial of “ Elementary Survival Swimming in the Sea in 2022” for 6th graders of elementary school under the jurisdiction of the Busan Seobu Office of Education in order to perform its role as a marine specialized educational institution . This program is hosted by the Busan Western Office of Education and hosted by our university.



Existing indoor ( pool ) elementary school survival swimming education has been conducted for 3rd to 5th graders , but this is the first time that the elementary school survival swimming intensive course is actually conducted in the sea .



The elementary school survival swimming education in the sea, which started on the 1st , will be conducted for a total of 21 days until the 21st . About 469 students from eight schools are expected to apply and participate in this program .



Through this education, it is expected that it will help to secure self-safety for water activities and to improve the cooperative spirit and physical strength of participating elementary school students .



Director Jo Woo-jung of Lifelong Education Center said, “ We will maximize the potential publicity effect of our university through practical and systematic curriculum centered on practical skills rather than a formal curriculum centered on theory , and play a role as a base center for survival swimming education. ” He said , “ Next year, we will expand the number of trainees . ”
