Korea Maritime & Ocean University: Sri Lanka Maritime University’s Power Generation Master Plan Establishment Final Report

On the 28th , our university held a final report on the ‘ Sri Lanka Maritime University Development Master Plan and Capacity Reinforcement Project ‘ at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka .



The event was attended by Mi-yeon Lim, First Secretary of the Korean Embassy in Sri Lanka , Myung-jin Kim, Director of the KOICA Office , Deepa Liyanage , Assistant Minister for Development , Ministry of Education , Muditha Malkanthi , Assistant Minister for Vocational Education , Wasantha Rathnayake, Vice-Chancellor of Sri Lanka Maritime University , Sampath Manthrinayake, Deputy Director General of Suwon of Sri Lanka .



Our university was previously selected for the Sri Lanka Maritime University development master plan and capacity building project conducted by KOICA ( Korea International Cooperation Agency ) in 2018 , and dispatched maritime experts to establish a development plan for the Sri Lanka Maritime University and a training project to strengthen human capabilities. carried out



According to the project, the university invited 12 professors from Sri Lanka Maritime University to conduct master’s degree training at Korea Maritime University and Pukyong National University for two years . They completed majors in shipping and logistics , marine engineering , marine science , and fisheries , and are expected to contribute to nurturing future talents who will lead the Sri Lankan maritime industry .



The university also conducted training for the development of Korea’s maritime industry and capacity building for about 140 senior government officials, university administration officials , and undergraduate students from Sri Lanka Maritime University .



Dong-geun Ryu, head of the International Logistics Division, the head of the project , emphasized, “ The cultivation of excellent maritime talent has made a great contribution to Korea’s economic development . By building this, it became an opportunity for Korea to raise its global status as a maritime nation, ” he said .
