Korea Maritime & Ocean University: Support center for students with disabilities, high school students with disabilities college life experience program
On the 11th, the Support Center for Disabled Students (Director Ji-Woong Lee) held the ‘2022 High School Students with Disabilities University Life Experience Program’ at Oullimgwan on the 11th.
This program provides opportunities for prospective students with disabilities such as various college life information and academic counseling to help them choose a career path.
The program, which was first conducted this year, was attended by 22 local high school students from Busan Technical High School and Mandeok High School, as well as teachers in charge . The program consisted of an introduction to the Support Center for Students with Disabilities after watching a promotional video from Korea Maritime University, a guide to career design conducted by inviting the career and employment team leader of the Busan Employment Support Center for the Disabled as instructors, and an experience of the Hannara Lake.
This program has great significance in that it broke the stereotypes of the university’s perception of students with disabilities and contributed to improving the perceptions of students with disabilities. With the self-reliance efforts of university members, led by the Support Center for Students with Disabilities, a positive image was created so that the students could more easily access the university.
