Korea University and Agency for Defense Development Forge Business Agreement for Advancement in Defense Science, Technology, and Industry
On March 12th at 2:00 PM in the first conference room in the Main Hall, Korea University signed a business agreement with the Agency for Defense Development (Director Park Jong-seung) to further the development of defense science and technology, as well as the defense industry in general.
The agreement includes establishing exchange channels for cooperation in the field of cyber defense technology, identifying the demand for source technologies to respond to cyber defense threats, establishing a K-RMF technology foundation, cooperation for the adoption of novel cybersecurity-based technologies in national defense, and the promotion of expert, academic, technological, and information exchanges for the advancement of cyber defense technology
At a time when cybersecurity is becoming a critical component of society, both institutions have agreed to cooperate in strengthening cybersecurity expertise using cutting-edge technologies, nurturing specialized human resources, conducting joint research and academic exchanges to respond to cyber-attacks such as domestic and international hacking, and determining the various needs for information and communication technologies.
Korea University and the Agency for Defense Development are to continue making constant efforts to develop defense science and technology and the defense industry by encouraging academic exchanges.
At the signing ceremony, President Kim Dong-one stated, “Since the establishment of the Department of Cyber Defense in 2011 to foster military officers specialized in cyber warfare, Korea University has played a pivotal role in the research and development of cyber defense technologies and policies, as well as in personnel training.” He continued, “For the national security of the Republic of Korea, it is essential to respond to and develop the cyber defense field. We hope this agreement with the Agency for Defense Development will serve as a groundbreaking moment for Korea University in advancing the field of cyber defense technology.”
Park Jong-seung, Director of the Agency for Defense Development, said, “Cyber security is becoming increasingly important every day. Through this agreement, we aim to cultivate a stable workforce in the field of cyber security through regular, rather than intermittent, exchanges. We hope this agreement will create a positive cycle of benefits for everyone involved.”
