KU Leuven: University Trail 2022 sets KU Leuven in motion
On Thursday 15 and 16 September, KU Leuven employees showed their sporting side during the fifth edition of the University Trail in Leuven, Ghent and Diepenbeek. In groups of 3 to 8 colleagues they walked or ran together 5 or 10 km. This event is one of the many ways in which the university wants to motivate its employees to get enough exercise under the KU Leuven Healthy banner . The Trail could count on 2390 enthusiastic participants.
The park of the Leuven Arenberg castle and its surroundings were flooded on 15 September by 2200 enthusiastic participants of the University Trail. They could walk 5 or 10 kilometers or walk 5 km through the Arenberg Park and past some surprising locations such as the beach and fitness hall, Alma 3, Auditorium K, Aula Rosalind Franklin in the Quadrivium building, the Campus Library Arenberg, the Central Warehouse on Willem de Croylaan and the greenhouses of the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering.
That same day, 123 colleagues in Ghent from the Faculty of Engineering Technology walked and walked to Campus Sint-Lucas. The course went through the Groenevalleipark and ran for 75% along the water.
A day later, on September 16, 67 sports enthusiasts made a loop in Diepenbeek around the Technology Center on campus.
With the University Trail we show that KU Leuven not only stands for education and research, but also for a close-knit, sporting community. Nearly 2,400 colleagues who walk and run together are thus helping to underline the importance of a healthy mind in a healthy body, something that we as a university have been consciously committed to at KU Leuven Healthy for several years now.
