Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts & Science (KCLAS) welcomed the students and parents of Batch 2019

New Delhi: Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts & Science (KCLAS) welcomed the students and parents of Batch 2019 on June 18, 2019 into the Kumaraguru community! Swagatham is an initiation ceremony of the fresher students of KCLAS of the batch 2019 – 2022 where they are welcomed to be taught, mentored and guided for the next three years, to become the individuals that they want to be with full effectiveness. Through the day the students and parents were guided towards knowing the college, its opportunities and possibilities and understand the ecosystem in which they will engage. KCLAS offers eight undergraduate programmes which are unique and also Master of Social Work.
In the Inaugural session, Dr. Vijila Kennedy, Principal, KCLAS welcomed the parents and students and shared about the vision and values of KCLAS. Dr. B.K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman, Kumaraguru Institutions in his presidential address highlighted the significance of liberal arts education and how it prepares a student life. Liberal arts education is all about free thinking, creativity and innovation and this is the order of the day underlined the Chairman. In KCLAS, the young minds are moulded and persuaded to think differently and act courageously. This is where liberal thinking builds, leadership builds and great world builds he added. Shri. Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent, Kumaraguru Institutions in his message to the freshers encouraged the students aspire, achieve and create an impact in the community.

Swagatham, the Inaugural function is followed by a 7 days orientation programme called KCLAS Transition and Guidance (KCLAS TAG19). This is very unique programme, which enables the fresher’s to transition into college life and KCLAS culture. Each day of the KCLAS TAG has different themes which will mould students to understand themselves, the college education, KCLAS life and their engagement with the community and environment. Many inspirational talks, hands on workshops, discussions, activities and sports are planned for the KCLAS TAG19. It will introduce them to the course and what’s expected, allow them to familiarize themselves with the key people and help them to start making connections with other students. The seven day programme will be led by the senior students, thus encouraging peer learning and support. KCLASTAG 19 will efficiently bridge the gap between school and college life and will guide the new students through their chosen path towards becoming the ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’.

To offer complete education support to aspirational students from challenging socio-economic status and equip them to engage in meaningful professions and contribute to their well-being, KCLAS, in 2018 initiated the Scholarship for Equal Education and Development (SEED). This initiative has been supporting over 10 students every batch and this year 14 students are aided.
