Kumaraguru Institutions organised 7th edition of YUGAM 2019
Bangalore: Kumaraguru Institutions is a division of Sakthi Group, a conglomerate of industries and educational institutions. Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) was the first to be instituted as a part of Kumaraguru institutions in 1984 followed by KCT Business School (KCT BS) in 2005, Kumaraguru Institute of Agriculture (KIA) in 2014 and Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science (KCLAS) in 2018. The institution is dedicated to offering a noteworthy educational experience that expands intellectual horizons to build empowered and conscientious students.
The 7th edition of YUGAM 2019, presented by M/s. Cosmos and enhanced by M/s. UNIspotter for this year kick started on 02 February, geared till 09 February. Yugam is a techno-cultural-sports fest of Kumaraguru Institutions that constitutes a number of technical and non-technical workshops, competitions, exhibitions, pro shows and talk shows.
The theme of YUGAM ’19 was Time and there was a footfall of 12000+ students from colleges across Southern India. Yugam is a fully student run show to tap their ability to lead, work in teams, take decisions, think critically, find and manage finances and more, for Kumaraguru beliefs in imparting an education that prepares them to be individuals of a wider outlook to personal and professional wellbeing.
With the interfusion of a youth conclave called the Inspire India YouthCon’19, 130+ technical and non-technical competetions, 65+ workshops, cultural performances, pro-shows and inspirational talks, Yugam’19 inspired the youth to elevate their aspirations, fight challenges, stay focused and achieve greater heights.

Inspire India YouthCon’19, an aspirational youth conclave happened on 02, 03 Feb with 30+ Speakers, 4 workshops, 2 panel discussions, young disruptor stories and startup stories was a confluence of young minds where seekers aspired and icons inspired. Some of the eminent speakers were Shri. S.Ramakrishnan, Founder President, Amar Seva Sangam Dr. Akkai Padmashali Founder, Ondede, Annamalai IPS, DCP of Bengaluru, Afshan Ashiq, Captain, J&K Women’s Football Team, Suresh Sambandam, CEO at KiSSFLOW, Niveditha Mahesh, Research Assistant, School of Earth and Space Exploration, etc. The first book of Inspire India YouthCon 2019 ‘Compilation of Inspiration’ was released at the valedictory ceremony of the conclave. The book, Compilation of Inspiration, contains the live capture of the inspiring stories and shares by the speakers of the conclave by a student team. It is a spring that one can draw inspiration anytime.

Dr.N.Mahalingam Trophy’19 – Competitions spread across various levels, South Indian level basketball tournament, State level handball tournament, State level volleyball tournament for women, district level ball badminton tournament and Kabbadi tournament happened at the Kumaraguru grounds from 02 to 06 Feb. GTN, Dindigul bagged the winners in Handball, St.Joseph’s, Chennai bagged the volleyball in women category, SRM University bagged the Kabbadi, basketball by JIT & Japeeiar Chennai.
KCT Business School put up a mega shopping mela called Angadi from 07 to 09 Feb, a platform to demonstrate and sell the products and services by student entrepreneurs and others.
There were competitions in four categories such as technical, non-technical, literary and sports that happened on 07, 08 & 09 Feb.
Trendz ’19 – Fashion Show, Bike Stunt Show, Drone Racing League, Nitro RC Racing, Choreo nite, a dance show, Dhwani and Arohanam, singing competitions were some of the highlight shows. The upcoming musicians, Sayed Subhahan and Saranya Srinivas judged the singing competitions.
Social Campaign of Yugam’19 called the Socio-Constant consisting of Adayalam- a campaign to bring back our lost tradition of Bomallatam, Imaika Nodigal – a campaign joining hands with visually empowered and Emerge- a camp helping people affected by the cyclone Gaja to restore their lives was done as part of this is event. This campaign has so far reached 19000+ people and being an on-going work all three missions together is expected to impact a 30000+.
AISA Awards – Artists Incorporated Short film Awards had Mr. Sashikanth – 96 Movie producer presided over the award function to judge, encourage and inspire the young film makers and their short films on 09 Feb. The short film ‘Sila Pengalin Kathai’ won the AISA Award. This film was shot by the crew from IIT Madras. Further, short films were awarded in six categories.
Proshows – Yugam ’19 presented people’s favorite performers on 07, 08 & 09 Feb. Modern classical maestro Sid Sriram’s music show, a poetic, breath taking dance performance by 21 spectacular dancers of contemporary styles from Abhinav Dance Company, a rib-tickling and knee- slapping stand-up comedy show by Jagan Krishna, a music ensemble by Alison Gabrielle.
