KVK Srinagar organizes awareness programme on Scientific Cultivation of Rabi Pulses at Khonmoh
SRINAGAR : Krishi Vigyan Kendra Srinagar today organized an awareness programme on Scientific Cultivation of Rabi Pulses under ongoing 4th phase of Back to Village programme at Khonmoh.
The programme was organized on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner(DC) , Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad for awareness of the farmers of the District.
The programme was presided over by Senior Scientist & Head, Dr. Sajad Mohi-Ud-Din while DDC Member, Manzoor Ahmed, Scientific staff of the Kendra and large number of farmers of the District.
After welcoming the participants of the programme, Senior Scientist & Head of the Kendra gave detailed information regarding scientific cultivation and package of practices of rabbi pulses especially pea. He highlighted the importance of pulses in the human diet, which form an affordable and balanced source of protein. He emphasized upon the participating farmers to go for intercropping with pulses so as to ensure soil fertility in a sustainable way and at the same time reduce the use of chemical fertilizers. He stressed on and deliberated in detail, formation of FPO in agricultural and allied sectors, so that farmers are able to reap better returns by eliminating the exploitative tactics used by middle men.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Member thanked the Kendra for organizing such programmes for the benefit of the farming community.
At the culmination of the programme, qualitative field pea seeds were distributed among the participating farmers under Cluster Frontline Demonstration programme.
