Kyushu University and Chiang Mai University Forge Partnership to Develop Next-Generation Global Leaders
On June 21, 2024, Kyushu University signed an agreement on academic cooperation and student exchange with Chiang Mai University. The signing ceremony took place at Chikushi Campus, Kyushu University. This partnership was jointly forged by Kyushu U’s Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Engineering Sciences (IGSES), the Institute for Materials Chemistry and Engineering (IMCE) and Chiang Mai University’s Faculty of Science.
The attendees from both universities at the ceremony included:
- Professor Torranin Chairuangsri, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University
- Professor Kedsarin Pimraksa, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University
- Professor Chaiyasit Banjongprasert, Head of Materials Science Research Center, Chiang Mai University
- Professor Jun Tanimoto, Dean of IGSES, Kyushu University
- Professor Shiyoshi Yokoyama, Director of IMCE, Kyushu University
- Professor Mitsuhiro Murayama, IMCE, Kyushu University
- Professor Junichiro Hayashi, IMCE, Kyushu University
After the ceremony, four doctoral students from Chiang Mai University’s Faculty of Science joined the rest of the attendees to visit the newly constructed Chikushi International House (student dormitory) and the research facilities of IMCE.
This agreement will enhance collaboration and deepen the long-standing exchange between the two universities. Going forward, the IMCE plans to accept graduate students from Chiang Mai University as interns and provide them with opportunities to engage in Kyushu University’s cutting-edge research. By expanding collaboration in both research and education, the partnership aims to nurture researchers into the next generation of international leaders.
