Kyushu University: Dual bachelor’s degree program agreement signed with Northern Arizona University

On July 8, 2021, a virtual signing ceremony was held between Kyushu University and Northern Arizona University (NAU). Both universities have been working closely since the establishment of a university-wide collaborative agreement in 2015.

At the ceremony, President Tatsuro Ishibashi and President José Luis Cruz Rivera signed the academic cooperation and student exchange agreements, which officially confirmed that both universities had renewed the period of their partnership for five years.

Following the signing of the university-wide agreements, a brand-new agreement on a dual degree program was signed by Prof. Miki Nakao, Dean of the School of Agriculture, and President Cruz Rivera. This program has been jointly developed between the School of Agriculture, Kyushu U, and the College of the Environment, Forestry and Natural Sciences (CEFNS), NAU. The enrolled students will be given a unique opportunity to receive two degrees– a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Kyushu U and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from NAU.

After signing, Prof. Nakao and Prof. Jason Wilder (Vice President for Research and Dean of CEFNS, NAU) made remarks respectively. They both delivered their warmest appreciation to the faculty and staff who contributed to the establishment of this new program. The first student exchange seeking a dual degree will take place from August 2023 by dispatching Kyushu U students to NAU.
