Kyushu University Hosts Signing Ceremony for Double Degree Program Agreement with University of Technology Malaysia
On Friday, February 2, 2024, a signing ceremony for a double degree master’s program agreement was held at Chikushi Campus, Kyushu University. This collaborative agreement was made between Kyushu University’s Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Engineering Sciences (IGSES), and the University of Technology Malaysia’s (UTM) Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Ahmad, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (UTM), and Prof. Tanimoto, Dean of IGSES (Kyushu U), in the presence of Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Shafry (UTM) and Senior Vice President Prof. Harata (Kyushu U),
In 2011, Kyushu University launched the three-university consortium “Collective Action for Mobility Program of University Students in Asia, Energy and Environmental Science and Technology (CAMPUS Asia EEST)”, which also included Pusan National University (Korea) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China). In 2021, this consortium was expanded to include CAMPUS Asia Plus EEST, with the addition of a new member, UTM.
This agreement represents the first double degree program between UTM and any of the Campus Asia Plus EEST consortium members.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Prof. Lee, Director of CAMPUS Asia plus EEST program at Pusan National University. The university is also planning to start a double degree master’s program with UTM next year. He expressed his expectations for promoting sustainable exchanges through educational and research collaborations among member universities of the consortium.
The double degree program between Kyushu U and UTM will start in 2024 and will enroll one student from each university every year to earn a master’s degree from both universities.
