Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management organizes an awareness webinar on Cyberlaw and Cybercrime against women
New Delhi :Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management organized an awareness webinar on Cyberlaw and Cybercrime against women in collaboration with National Commission for Women (NCW), Delhi. The webinar aims to create awareness about Cyber Crimes and cyber laws issues in India. In the current digital time, cybercrime has increased drastically against women. The webinar was a culmination of the idea to make every woman know the basics of Cyberlaw and her rights to complaint against the mishappenings under different sections of law.
In the opening remarks by Prof. Praveen Gupta, Director, LBSIM said the Internet has become an integral part of human life, it helps in boosting economy, business, but we must increase awareness about cybercrime. It is important to know the harmful effects of the internet. Prof. G.L Sharma, Advisor- Corporate Interface, LBSIM, Dr. Sheetal Singh, Webinar Convenor, LBSIM along with students and faculty members were also present in the webinar.
The inaugural session was delivered by Hon’ble Justice Pratibha M. Singh, Judge High Court, Delhi. While delivering the session Justice Pratibha M. Singh said, cybercrime has increased in several cases and each woman needs to know the basics of cyberlaw and ethics. The major problems faced by the woman against cybercrime are Cyberbullying, Cyberstalking, morphing, sextortion merely in the age- group (16-30 yr) on social media. She further added, every woman has the right to complain against any cybercrime faced by them in cyber cells present in every Police station, and not to create any communication gap while suffering any types of bullying or stalking on social media. Our technology is faster and rapid than before, any complaints against cybercrime are taken strictly. She also advised the modern generation of women to know the basic Cyberlaws and take the help of NGOs too, if they are not willing to go to the Police station due to society and family shyness and stigma.
