Lancaster University: Guardian league table places Lancaster top in the North West
Lancaster University is the highest ranked institution in the North West of England and 14th in the UK out of 121 universities, according to the Guardian University Guide 2023.
Meanwhile a number of courses also came in the top ten including: Marketing and Public Relations 1st; Fine Art 2nd; Social Work, Biomedical Science 4th; Physics 5th; Chemical Engineering 6th; English 7th; Drama and Dance 8th; and Media and film studies 9th.
Lancaster was also recently placed 12th overall in the UK according to The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023 and ranked second in the North West for Graduate Prospects, which ranks the percentage of graduates in highly skilled jobs or graduate-level study.
Several subjects are also ranked in the top ten in the UK in the Times league table including Communication and Media Studies, Linguistics 2nd; Social Work 3rd; Art and Design 4th; Physics 5th; Creative Writing, Sports Science and Subjects Allied to Medicine 6th; Drama, Dance and Cinematics 7th; Geography and Environmental Science 9th. The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023 provides rankings and profiles for 135 UK universities, making use of the latest data on everything from teaching and research quality to the student experience and graduate prospects.
Lancaster University has consistently featured near the top of the tables in recent years and is currently 11th in The Complete University Guide 2023.
In addition, a strong performance in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework resulted in 91 per cent of Lancaster research being assessed as internationally excellent or world-leading.
