Lancaster University hosts free online science webinars

Lancaster University’s Faculty of Science and Technology is inviting members of the public to join them for a series of free online webinars taking place this week for their Science Week 2021.

Featuring talks from researchers around the theme of “change”, this online event replaces the well-attended Public Lecture Series usually held in December at the Storey Institute in Lancaster city centre. Although face-to-face events will hopefully return in the future, this year provides a unique opportunity for the public to take part in this series of webinars where they can learn about a range of topics from ‘Our Changing Night Sky’ to analysing social networks. The sessions will also feature an opportunity to ask questions.

Dr Jan Grabowski, Assistant Dean for Engagement at Lancaster University’s Faculty of Science and Technology, said: “We are delighted to have adapted our annual Public Lecture Series to a week-long online event which we hope members of the public will very much enjoy. We picked the theme ‘Change’ because our lives have changed dramatically in the last 12 months and science will continue to play a role in shaping our future. We have an interesting schedule of talks to be hosted live on Zoom and we are excited for the local community to join us.”
