Lancaster University: Lancaster University Management School careers team give Accounting and Finance students internship advantage
More than 100 Lancaster University Management School students put themselves ahead of the game in pursuit of ultra-competitive internship placements thanks to a special careers event.
The first-year undergraduate Accounting and Finance students were put through their paces at the inaugural Financial Careers Summer boot camp.
LUMS Accountancy Careers Coach Tanya Parry and Financial Careers Coach Paul McCormick delivered the 90-minute session to bring students up to speed on requirements for making crucial second year internship applications in the accounting and finance sectors. Many applications need to be made before students return to Lancaster in October.
Paul said: “Everything from CVs and interviews to the Big 4 and being an investment bank trader was discussed. We always want to provide our students with every possible advantage when it comes to their future careers, and those who took part in the bootcamp welcomed the opportunity to get ahead of the game when it comes to internships which can play a major part in their pathways after university.
“Events such as this show why Lancaster is truly a destination for the next generation of leading accountants and finance professionals.”
