Launch of Ural Center for Artificial Intelligence Development Announced at the University

The Ural Federal University and Sber created the Ural Center for Artificial Intelligence Development in Ekaterinburg. The agreement was signed on December 6, the day of the opening of the first Sber-branded partner classroom at the UrFU Engineering School of Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Control Systems. The document was signed by Dmitry Sukhoverkhov, Chairman of the Ural Bank of Sberbank, and Victor Koksharov, Rector of UrFU.

The new branded classroom is equipped with everything needed for comfortable student training, including computers and an interactive whiteboard. Master students of the Applied Data Analysis program will have their classes here. The Ural Center for the Artificial Intelligence Development will also be located here.

“The Applied Data Analysis Master’s program has already graduated three generations of students, more than half of whom have become employees of Sberbank. The opening of the joint branded space and the Center for Artificial Intelligence Development is an important, but only the first step in a long chain of fruitful cooperation between the university and Sberbank,” Victor Koksharov says.

Specialists of the center will be engaged in solving a wide range of tasks for business and state authorities. Among the priority areas will be the development of technologies in the field of ecology, property relations, administrative processing of citizens’ requests, and others. It is planned that the Center will become interregional and will help to solve the problems of the subjects of the Ural Federal District and the Republic of Bashkortostan.

“Sber has a lot of experience in creating and implementing innovative solutions, and we are ready to share our developments and technologies. The newly created center will solve applied tasks to help regional companies develop their business with the help of artificial intelligence, make the process of providing public services more efficient, and improve the standard of living of citizens,” says Dmitry Sukhoverkhov.

In addition, the classroom will be used for research and discussions by experts in the field of artificial intelligence.
