Law Society organizes its annual function

ALIGARH : The annual function of the Law Society, Faculty of Law, Aligarh Muslim University, which marks the conclusion of the year-long activities, including debate and discussion, legal writing, Mooting and advocacy, dispute resolution and settlement, legal aid and literacy, jail and court visits and clinical and legal training, was organized to felicitate winners and participants of various competitive activities and the office bearers of the Law Society.

Addressing the programme as chief guest, Prof M. U. Rabbani, noted cardiologist and former Dean, Faculty of Medicine dovetailed the symbiotic relationship between law and medicine, especially forensic ontology and medical jurisprudence, adding that the medicine and law as a discipline are based on clinical education and curriculum that share a high degree of professional commitment and dedication.

Congratulating the office bearers and members of Law Society for organizing academic activities and providing legal help to people in need, Prof Rabbani said legal professionals have the power to shape public discourse and contribute to the development of sound public policies.

Appreciating the activities of the Law Society, Prof. M.Z.M. Nomani, Dean, Faculty of Law remarked that the law faculty has seminal contribution towards the university’s excellence and ranking and the Law society acts as linchpin to fostering academic ambience at the Faculty of Law.

Prof. Mohd Ashraf, Chairman, Department of Law, stressed the need for understanding the court crafts and proceedings.

Prof. S.A.N. Zaidi, Incharge, Law Society urged the students to prepare for contemporary challenges of the bar, bench and paralegal establishment.

The annual function coincided with the graduating ceremony and farewell to BALLB final year batch with mementos and memoirs.

The Secretary, Law Society resolved to make society more diverse, vibrant, and outreachable to emerging areas of legal profession. Mr. Akash Varshney stressed the need to have a society of postgraduate and doctoral fellows, while Mr Anas Siddiqui, Secretary; Moot Court Cell underscored the need for a separate moot court society.
