Lecture held on CFD Simulation in Civil and Environmental Engineering
ALIGARH : The Centre for Disaster Management Studies, Department of Civil Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University hosted a lecture on “CFD Simulation in Civil and Environmental Engineering” by Prof Chandan Ghosh, currently serving as Director-Research and Innovation, and also CEO of Nishkam Technologies, an IIT-Kanpur based startup under the Fluidyn (France), a world-renowned leader in the Computational Fluid Dynamics and 3D modelling and simulation.
In his lecture, Prof. Ghosh emphasized the need for 3D-simulation exclusively dealt by Fluidyn numerical solvers in areas such as air pollution phenomena and Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), Fire and heat radiation such as the Urban heat Island, Atmospheric toxic gas leakage and particle dispersion (EIA) and surface and groundwater pollution.
He provided a hands-on practice of the software with an education version, which has the potential to solve real-life problems involving all branches of engineering, mathematics and Multiphysics.
He said that the civil and environmental group of the department will be facilitated with the software, and it is proposed that a 5-day hands-on training programme may be organized for the larger benefit of students.
Earlier, Prof. I.H. Farooqi, Chairman of the department welcomed the guests, resource person and participants, while Prof. Rehan A. Khan, Coordinator, Centre for Disaster Management Studies highlighted the achievements of the centre and introduced the guest speaker.
Prof. Shakeel Ahmad, Section In-charge of M.Tech. (Earthquake Engineering and Disaster Management) extended a vote of thanks. Mr. Saad Shamim Ansari conducted the programme.
