Lecture on War and Peace with special reference to Afghanistan held
Aligarh : Dr. Farida Ahmadi, founder of the NGO Global Happiness delivered a compelling lecture at the Department of History, Centre of Advanced Study, Aligarh Muslim University, on the journey from war to peace, with a particular focus on the Afghan refugee experience in Norway. Her talk explored the harsh realities of war, the challenges faced by refugees, and the profound impact on individuals and communities.
Dr. Ahmadi highlighted the resilience of Afghan refugees, many of whom have endured unimaginable hardships and displacement.
Central to her discussion was the remarkable inclusivity and assimilation of Norwegian society, offering hope for displaced populations. She described her NGO’s efforts in fostering unity among diverse groups, emphasizing the transformative power of inclusiveness in building cohesive societies and advancing civilization.
Dr. Ahmadi addressed the global community’s role in promoting sustainable peace in Afghanistan, while condemning the destructive actions of imperial powers that have perpetuated conflict and suffering. She called for denouncing war as a criminal act, advocating for a collective commitment to peace and harmony.
In the session chaired by Prof. Gulfishan Khan, Chairperson, Department of History, Centre of Advanced Study, AMU, the rich cultural ties between India and Afghanistan were highlighted. Prof. Khan emphasized the historical significance of Kabul within the Mughal Empire, showcasing India’s cultural and architectural contributions to the region’s heritage.
Prof. M Waseem Raja, as a compere, acknowledged not only the external forces’ role in destabilizing Afghanistan but also internal divisions among Afghan tribes on sectarian lines. He emphasized the need for unity among Afghans to overcome internal strife and external pressures.
