Lectures on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

 

ALIGARH : Lectures and commemorative functions including competitive events will be held in the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) from August 11, to mark the Nation-wide ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations, 75 years of Indian Independence.

The Faculty of Arts, Aligarh Muslim University is organizing a lecture on “The National Movement and its Legacy” on August 11, at 12 noon, at the Arts Faculty Lounge. Professor Mohammad Sajjad, Department of History, AMU will deliver the lecture.

At the Department of Mass Communication, Army veteran, Colonel R K Singh will speak on ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ programme on August 11 at 10 am.

Professor Pitabas Pradhan, Chairman, Department of Mass Communication said that Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Mohammad Gulrez will be the chief guest while Professor Asmer Beg, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences will preside over the function.

In yet another programme to mark the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav programme at the Department of Hindi, Professor Naima Gulrez (Principal, Women’s College) will address as the chief Guest while ADM City, Aligarh Shri Rakesh Kumar Patel will grace the programme as the Guest of Honor.

AMU students will also participate in an ‘On the Spot Mural/Wall Painting Competition of the Innovation Council and University Incubation Centre (IC&UIC) on the topic, ‘Innovation in India during the Past 75 years’.

“The contest will be held on the eve of the Independence Day at the CARET building to commemorate India’s efforts in Science and Technology that originated in the past 75 years of our Independence. The programme will be held in collaboration with the Department of Fine Arts and the Centre of Advanced”, said Prof S Imtiaz Hasnain (Chairman, IC&UIC) and Prof Mohammad Sajjad Athar (Coordinator, IC&UIC).
