Leiden University launches EmPhD-project

Dutch postgraduates do not feel adequately prepared for a next job. In a new research project, first and second year PhD candidates from Leiden University are invited to further develop their career competences by using a self-evaluation tool, coaching or group intervision.

Self-reflection, setting goals and entrepreneurship are competences that are important during your PhD trayectory and can also help develop your career after your graduation.

Researcher Verena Ly: ‘These career competences enhance the adaptability and self-management of personal growth and career development.’

‘In the EmPhd project, we compare the effects of an existing self-evaluation tool to interventions in which this tool is supported with personal coaching or group intervision. Our goal is to introduce evidence-based interventions that improve career competences for PhD students.
