In May 2024 ahead of the European elections, Professor Wolff delivered a talk to 135 pupils from the European Primary School The Hague about Democracy, Europe and the European elections. Organized within the context of their European hours, the talk reviewed the role of a Member of European Parliament, what democracy is about and why Europeans are voting in European elections, as well as a bit of the history and the purpose of the European Union. The 9–10-year-olds were interested in understanding the difference between democracy and authoritarianism, and also actively gave their opinions on what the priorities of the new legislature should be. The talk was concluded by reflecting upon what the EU does everyday for children, including a talk on children’s rights.
