LETI: Interest in Engineering Is Growing- LETI at a Forum in Mongolia
On October 6-8, LETI took part in the VII National Russian Educational Exhibition – 2022 at the Russian House in Ulan Bator (Mongolia). Twenty Russian universities participated in the forum commemorating the 100th anniversary of the beginning of Mongolian youth students training in Russia.
The LETI delegation presented Russian- and English-language bachelor’s and master’s degree programs to applicants from Mongolia. International Students Office managers Renat Yalyshev and Maria Titarenko helped the students decide on their future profession at First Electrotechnical.
“In Mongolia, we saw the serious potential for attracting applicants to study at LETI, especially to the bachelor’s degree programs, because school students here have a decent basic level of knowledge and speak Russian well. Most of them know Russia and St. Petersburg well from the school program and aspire to study at Russian universities. I have the impression that the desire in the country to be lawyers and managers is going away, and more and more kids are paying attention to engineering professions.”

At the scientific and practical conference “Russian Diploma – the Start of a Successful Career,” representatives of the university spoke in detail about Russian education and training at LETI.
As part of the exhibition, LETI representatives met with Mongolia’s largest university, the Mongolian National University, the management of Rossotrudnichestvo in Mongolia, and representatives of the Russian Embassy in the country.
“Meetings with Mongolian LETI graduates show that we are working in the right direction. LETI graduates in Mongolia are in demand and find decent jobs. Against the backdrop of the Mongols’ sedate lifestyle, our graduates are active and capable of achieving results. All of them speak warmly of St. Petersburg and LETI,” notes Maria Titarenko, a manager of the International Students Office.
The forum also included an international gathering of Russian/Soviet graduates. The first LETI graduate from Mongolia received his diploma in 1965. All in all, during its history, the university has trained 43 specialists who came to study from the country.
In 2022 the Mongolian customs service employees were the first to be trained on an innovative system for training operators of customs checkpoints, developed at LETI.
