LETI: LETI Organizes the First Indian-Russian School Hackathon
Students from Indian schools and Technopark School Kudrovo will offer engineering solutions contributing to the well-being of people and the environment at a hackathon “Building a Sustainable World.”
On June 4-5, Technopark School Kudrovo and Pravaha Foundation will host the Indian-Russian hackathon “Building a Sustainable World.” The Indian Embassy in Moscow is also supporting this effort.
LETI takes part in this project in several capacities. LETI students and educators are conducting classes for Kudrovo schoolchildren and teachers since 2016. And this time, LETI students will take part in the contest to compete with Indian students for prizes provided by the Indian Embassy in Moscow.
On April 23, the preparation program started with the Leningrad region hackathon on industrial robotics and smart greenhouses. The next step for the best Kudrovo teams is to compete on the international level on June 4-
What ideas will be hacked?
By tradition, problems to be solved are kept secret until the contest dates. Both Indian and Russian hackathon organizers think about solutions for better lives for deprived groups of people, a clean urban environment, mitigated climate changes, and efficient agriculture. These are the thematic fields where young programmers, engineers, and designers can offer ingenious solutions and find their future professions.
Who will take on challenges?
Six Indian-Russian school teams (ages 10 to 18).
Who are the participants and organizers?
Additionally to being a ‘normal’ school in a densely populated St. Petersburg suburb, Technopark School Kudrovo is also the Resource center for 18 schools and colleges in the Leningrad region. Over 1500 high-school students take extracurricular engineering classes in the research teams led by under- and postgraduate students and lecturers of LETI. University and high-school students have classes in the laboratories of Robotics, Industrial and Automotive Design, Internet of Things, Nanotechnology and Microelectronics, 3D Prototype Modeling for Engineering, Bionics and Electronics, Information and Communication Technologies, Geographic Information Systems and Ecology.
St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University “LETI” is the oldest electrotechnical university in Europe (founded in 1886). Today its faculties and departments conduct a wide range of courses and R&D activities in electronics, computer science and technologies, mechatronics, radio engineering, AI, and other advanced studies. LETI offers a great variety of master’s and bachelor’s programs to international students.
