Life Orientation Educators’ Seminar Hosted by Unisa and Ugu District Department of Education

Recognising the challenges students from rural areas face during the transition from high school to tertiary institutions, the seminar focused on empowering educators to support their students effectively.

Another primary objective was to acquaint educators with Unisa’s diverse range of programmes and the application process, ensuring they can provide accurate guidance to learners. The seminar shed light on learners’ financial aid options, empowering educators to assist learners from various socio-economic backgrounds.

The three-day workshop attracted Life Orientation educators from numerous schools across the Ugu District. Through structured and interactive sessions, educators were equipped with practical knowledge and encouraged to continue their studies, thus setting an example for their learners.

By facilitating discussions and hands-on activities, the seminar aimed to foster a supportive environment where educators could exchange ideas and explore innovative teaching methods. Ultimately, the goal was to empower educators to actively guide students towards seizing educational opportunities.

The seminar’s success was evident as educators left feeling motivated and equipped with the necessary tools to assist their learners effectively. Through the collaboration, Unisa and the Ugu District have strengthened ties between basic and higher education and empowered educators to be catalysts for positive change in their learners’ lives.
