Lila Poonawalla Foundation (LPF) awards Merit-cum-Need Based Scholarships to over 150 girl students in Bengaluru
Bengaluru : On the proud occasion of its 26-year journey of excellence, Lila Poonawalla Foundation (LPF), a non-profit registered Public Charitable Trust started by Mrs. Lila Poonawalla (recipient of Padma Shri award, 1989) and Mr. Firoz Poonawalla has awarded Merit-cum-Need based Scholarships through one memorable scholarship award function in Bengaluru City, Karnataka recently. At the event, over 150 academically bright but financially diffident girls, pursuing Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Engineering after Diploma courses, were awarded the scholarships.
Over the past 26 years, LPF has awarded scholarships to over 12,000 girls in Pune, Wardha, Amravati, Nagpur in Maharashtra and in Hyderabad, Telangana.
Amongst the guests who graced the event, were our corporate partners, Mr. Sanjeev Sharma, Country Head & Managing Director, ABB India as the Chief Guest, and Mr. G.V.Rao, Director – Corporate Social Responsibility and External Affairs, Volvo Group India as the Guest of Honor.
Mrs. Lila Poonawalla, Chairperson, Mr. Firoz Poonawalla, Founder Trustee, Ms. Priti Khare, CEO of LPF participated in the event.
Corporate Partners of LPF, Scholarship Selection Committee, Well-Wishers and a new batch of LILA Girls (scholarship recipients) and their parents attended the event.
Speaking at the function, Mrs. Lila Poonawalla said “Girl’s Education and Women Empowerment are the core pillars of Lila Poonawalla Foundation. We are very pleased to have partners like ABB India and Volvo Group India to support our project in Bengaluru. With these partnerships, we will not only support girls financially but also through skill-building and training. It is great that our partners join us in building these girls’ corporate readiness skills through their employee volunteering initiatives and in offering a competitive platform through internships and placements.”
