Literary Association inaugurated at Pachaiyappa’s College, Chennai

Chennai: The English Literary Association has been inaugurated at the PG and Research Department of English, Pachaiyappa’s College, Chennai today. Pachaiyappa’s College is one of the oldest educational institutions in India. In addition, it is the sole Indian college in the Madras Presidency founded to serve the educational needs of the society.

The English Literary Association is the initiative of PG and Research Department of English, Pachaiyappa’s College. Innumerable students have benefited through this association all through the years.

This is a platform wherein the faculty of the Department of English motivates the enterprising young minds of the students to participate in various challenging activities with the motive of sharpening the literary, aesthetic and communicative skills of the students. The association aims to bring out the innate potentials of the students through way of seminars, workshops and competitions.

Dr. V. Vijayalayan, Assistant Professor of English, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College, Mylapore, Chennai was the chief of the event. Captn. Dr. P. Arulmozhichelvan, Prinicpal i/c, Pachaiyappa’s College, Mrs. S. Arasi, Associate Professor and H.O.D, PG & Research Department of English, Faculty members & students participated in the ceremony.

Dr. V. Vijayalayan, Assistant Professor of English, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College, Mylapore conducted a workshop on “Applying Theories to Texts”. The students have been led from known to the unknown effectively through the workshop.

PG and Research Department of English from the day of its inception has been a seat of stalwarts who had contributed to the field of education. The department orgainzies various other activities like seminars, workshops intercollege quiz competitions to develop the academic growth of the students.
