LMD books erring traders, recovers fine of Rs 5.06 lakh

 

Srinagar: The field executives of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) has booked 202 erring traders for violation of Legal Metrology laws and recovered a sum of Rs 5.06 lakh as fine during intensified market inspections in the valley conducted during the month of February 2021.

During this period, the LMD conducted 3468 inspections in which 202 traders were booked for use of un-verified weights and measures, over- charging on pre-packaged products, offering for sale the products without mandatory declarations of MRP, packing date, Net- contents etc and short-deliveries on petrol -pumps. A compounding sum of Rs 5. 06 lakhs was collected from the defaulters.

The Department also received 32 complaints of which 29 were pertaining to the department.

Moreover, the rate of refill LPG Cylinders (Domestic type 14.2Kg) with effect from 1st of March 2021 for the district Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama, Anantnag, Kulgam, Bandipora, Ganderbal has been fixed at 935/- by Oil Marketing Companies (OMC).

For places Baramulla, Pahalgam the refill rate of cooking gas is Rs 943.50 and for district Kupwara, it is Rs 952/-
