Loughborough University Debuts Exciting Inaugural Lecture Series
Loughborough University launches a new Inaugural Lecture series on 1 November and extends a warm welcome for everyone to attend these engaging public events, delivered by its Professors on campus.
Professor Dan Parsons, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation at Loughborough, commented: “The University’s Inaugural Lecture series celebrates the achievements of our vibrant and diverse research and innovation community and provides a platform for sharing discoveries and fresh thinking with a wider public audience.
“I am delighted to launch a revamped Inaugural Lecture series and I very much look forward to welcoming staff and students from across the University, alumni, the local community and LUSEP campus partners to these enjoyable and informative events.”
Throughout the year, the University’s Professors will present their research on a broad range of engaging and thought-provoking topics including:
How can we manage driver sleepiness?
Elite sport performance – how important is technique?
How do I know how much you are willing to pay for an office parking space?
How sticky is Earth – and does it matter?
The programme launches on 1 November with the following topics:
Are Designers Masters of the Maze? Unravelling Dilemmas in Designing Complex Healthcare Systems – Professor Thomas Jun, School of Design and Creative Arts
AI in Business: Hype, Success, and the Future of Work? – Professor Crispin Coombs, Loughborough Business School
All lectures begin at 5pm and take place in EHB110b, Edward Herbert Building, with registration from 4.30pm. The Professors will be available for questions and further discussion at a drinks reception after the lectures.
