Loughborough University: Global esports leaders to gather for key hybrid event
Global leaders from the esports industry will come together for a hybrid conference co-hosted by Loughborough University and The Delegation of the Catalan Government in Germany.
The newly formed Esports Data Club will see some of the esports’ most respected experts discuss trends including data, forecasting, and return on investment for businesses operating in this growing market.
Taking place on April 25, the event will be held in Berlin, Germany and will also be available to access remotely online. Throughout the day, over 15 speakers from across the esports industry and sports business will share their thoughts and ideas through a series of interviews and roundtable discussions.
Confirmed speakers include Jordi Vallès, Project Development Manager, UFEC, Ana Oliveras aka aNouC, Gamer & CEO at Squarebox, Amol Patil CEO – Sportz Next, and Lokesh Suji, Director, Esports Federation of India.
Loughborough University London Institute for Sport Business PhD student, Fede Winer, explained:
“Historically, entertainment industries depend on people having two disposable assets: time and money. In esports, the market adds the need for digital assets to scale and deliver 24/7/365 to the consumers.
“Experts participating in this event question the status-quo of esports business technologies and data sources that drive the decision-makers on the board.”
Ahead of the conference, Marie Kapretz, The Head of the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia to Germany, spoke about the rise of esports:
“The pandemic has accelerated the development of the esports industry. In Catalonia, it gave rise to a new league. We now count 145 companies, generating 53 per cent of Spain’s turnover in this industry. Moreover, the Catalan Government sees this segment as an opportunity to spread health and educational values.”
