Loughborough University: Loughborough alumnus appointed Lightning’s new Regional Director of Women’s Cricket
James, a University Geography graduate (2004), holds an impressive CV in the sport having worked across performance and development for both Otago Cricket in New Zealand and mostly recently at Lancashire Cricket here in the UK.
Over the past 12 years at Lancashire, James led on a number of strategic programmes to develop the game, including heading up the club’s Women and Girls Cricket initiatives.
“I am delighted to be given this opportunity and I look forward to adding value to Women’s & Girls cricket across the East Midlands Region”, he said.
“I’m excited by all that Lightning Cricket stands for, the recent appointments made, and developments that have taken place recently.
“2022 is going to be an action-packed summer of cricket for the elite women’s game and we want Lightning Cricket to be at the forefront of that. I hope to take a whole game approach across the region to strategically lead on the ambitions ‘Transform Women & Girl’s Cricket Action Plan’, as part of ECB Inspiring Generations 2020-2024.
“Having been lucky enough to study at Loughborough, I feel humbled to again be a part of the University in this role and can’t wait to get started.”
James’ appointment will also see the current Regional Director of Women’s Cricket, Ian Read, promoted to Senior Performance Programme Manager for Cricket, Badminton, Swimming, and Triathlon.
