LPU lifted AIU’s North Zone Music Championship Trophy

Jalandhar: Series of immaculate performances by the talented students of LPU enabled them outclass other competitors and grab North Zone’s overall music champion trophy. Occasion was AIU’s (Association of Indian Universities’) 35th Inter University North Zone Youth Festival, nicknamed as “Yuvforia” and held in Amritsar. Proving supremacy once again among 1000+ institutions affiliated with many universities of North India, LPU students not only clinched Overall Music Championship trophy from the toughest competition but also won two second runners up overall & cultural procession trophies.

Cabinet Higher Education Minister of the Punjab State, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa honoured LPU Students with winners’ trophies of the fest. In all 27 competitions under 5 categories of Music, Dance, Literary, Theatre and Fine-Arts were held, where LPU students got top-ranked prizes for 11 competitions. Students got gold medals for Indian Group Singing; Indian Classical Singing; and, Western Solo. In addition they proved their mettle in competitions for Classical Dance; Folk Dance; Instrumental Percussion/Non-Percussion; Installation; Quiz and more. During all competitions participating students from J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand displayed exuberant cultural heritage and tried their best to grab the coveted trophies and medals.

The mega event was sponsored by Ministry of Youth Welfare & Sports, Government of India. Considered as the biggest Zonal event for assuring further national participation, LPU students will now compete in National unifest to be held at Noida in Uttar Pradesh from 3rd to 7th February 2020. After winning national competitions, LPU students will participate in South Asian Universities Festival (SAUFEST) at Kurukshetra in Haryana from 24-28 Feb 2020, where hundreds of foreign delegates will witness their talents.

Congratulating the winner students and their mentors, LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal advised them to continue working hard and win the National trophies also. He also shared that such festive participations are an integral educative part of the students, through which they imbibe amazing team-work spirit, irrespective of belonging to any caste, creed or culture. Mr Mittal also reminded them of many notable and shining stars in Bollywood, those are exclusively talented “Yields” of such festivals.

In fact, LPU students of hard professional programs including pharmacy, mechanical engineering and more devote their time so judiciously that they shine out in all tasks they undertake. They are continuously excelling others in each and every field- be it of research, placements, academics, sports, cultural or any other activity. At LPU, students are mentored as all-rounders so that they get globally fit.
