LPU organized two-day ‘Intelligent Robot Challenge 2017’
Jalandhar: Lovely Professional University (LPU) keeps on forwarding latest and innovative skills right from day-one of students’ stepping onto the campus. Maintaining the same notion, LPU’s Robotics and Intelligent System Community (RISC-LPU) and Department of Robotics & Control at LPU School of Electronics & Electrical Engineering (SEEE) organized multi-disciplinary event “Intelligent Robot Challenge 2017”. Under this, LPU engineering students of first year had to develop robots to move on pre-set, specially commanded and intelligent pathways to excel the robots of their competitors. For this, participating 200+ teams, each constituted of students from different engineering streams-computer sciences, mechanical, electronics and electrical-joined hands and developed enthralling robots. Thus, the robotic event unleashed the young creative minds to create and manufacture a new species of “Intelligent Robots” those could pass the destined path autonomously.
In this competition, LPU EEE student T Jeevan from Telangana won Ist prize for his robot ‘Nebula’; whereas, CSE (Hons) students Priyansh Jain from Udaipur & Pratyush Shukla from Kanpur won 2nd prize for ‘Robo Warriors’. All of the robotics teams had designed, built, and programmed their competitive robots to perform a series of tasks as sport, using offense, defense, quick thinking, and scouting techniques. To build a successful robot, teams used code, programming, computer added designs, automation, mechanical, electrical engineering, and robotics to the core. The two-day competition had comprised 4 dynamic rounds: Line Following; Grid Solving (by crossing all destined nodes); Grid Solving Object Picker; and, Surprise task.
Winner students said unanimously: “We take great pride in our participation in this competition, as we got great experiential learning, which LPU keeps on advocating and providing to all students in diverse fields. Competitions like this not only attract hundreds of passionate students like us, but also provide an ability to solve problems in innovative ways. Such new approaches guide us about the best of imagination, skills, and technology of tomorrow, and we are indeed fortunate to be a part of this competition.”
