Jalandhar: Lovely Professional University has lifted 31st Overall Championship Trophy of Association of Indian Universities’ (AIU’s) North Zone Uni-Fest which is the biggest event of the zone for further assuring participation in national inter-university competition. Last year LPU had to be satisfied with being first runner-up; however, working hard LPU snatched overall trophy this time from yester-year’s winner Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar as this time GNDU stood second. The mega event was sponsored by Ministry of Youth Welfare & Sports, Government of India. LPU students won overall trophies in three categories of Music, Theatre & Literary events. The massive event was held at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, where LPU contingent of 40 students revealed their extraordinary talent in 25 items under and won 19 medals under different event categories.
LPU students also won 8 gold medals in the competitions held for Mimicry, Mime, Elocution, Classical Vocal, Light Vocal, Western Solo, Western Group and Folk Orchestra. Along with three silver medals in Classical Non-percussion, Classical Dance and Collage Making; LPU students also got 8 bronze medals for their participation in Quiz, Classical percussion, Indian Group Song, Debate, One Act Play, Skit, Clay modeling and Poster making.
