LPU Team represented India at World’s oldest Cultural Fest “Llangollen-2017” held in UK
Jalandhar: It has been indeed a rare and proud opportunity for students and staff members of Lovely Professional University when their cultural-team was invited for performance and competition at world’s oldest cultural festival “Llangollen-2017” held in the UK. Representing India, LPU team members showcased enthralling feats of Indian & Punjabi culture to win the hearts of the largest world community gathered at the fest. LPU team compelled all of the on-lookers to dance along with them, both during procession on the UK streets, and performance on the mega international stage. LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal congratulated the participating team members for gaining great global exposure.
LPU team was invited at 70th annual International Music Festival (Eisteddfod) “Liangollen-2017” for cultural presentations in three categories: Instrumental Ensemble (Competition D1); Choreographed Stylized Folk Dance (Competition C2); and, Cultural Showcase (Competition C5). Other than India, hundreds of teams from the countries including the USA, Australia, China, Spain, England, Scotland, South Africa, Estonia, Indonesia, Zimbabwe, Kyrgyzstan, Northern Ireland, Philippines and many more participated for 100+ cultural competitions in diverse domains throughout a week-long organization. None of the cultural presentation was to be missed at any cost.
“Llangollen” International Musical Festival holds a special place in the world’s musical calendar. Here, plenty of practical tips and advice is found to each and every participant, be it through the field activities, choir singing, jazz hour, amphitheatre sessions, floor dances, folk dances/singing, solo/duets, evening concerts, special shows and more. Over five thousand singers, dancers and instrumentalists from around 50 countries perform to audiences of more than 50,000 over the 6 days of the event.
LPU Dean at department of cultural activities Dr Sorabh Lakhanpal, who led LPU team at the fest, shares: “It was indeed a unique and a proud opportunity with us to showcase our cultural heritage at an international platform, where other teams of world class artists perform. I and my team members personally feel that it was a great experience of learning from the other performers. No doubt LPU team enchanted each of the onlookers from the world across, yet we humbly admit that beyond any competitive zeal this participation has taught us more of oneness through gala cultural mix.”
