LPU’s Women Badminton Players won Bronze Medals at AIU’s North Zone Inter University Championship-2019

Jalandhar: Association of Indian Universities’ five-day North Zone Inter-university Badminton (Women) Tournament-2019 concluded, today, at Shanti Devi Mittal Indoor Sports Complex of Lovely Professional University (LPU), today, where LPU Women Badminton players won Bronze Medals. Panjab University Chandigarh lifted Championship Trophy and became Zonal Champion; University of Delhi declared runner up; and, HP University Shimla remained at 4th place in the zone. All the four teams will now participate for national level competitions.

While handing over the prestigious trophies and medals to the respective position holders, LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal invoked all players to continue improving upon their present performances. She also inspired the best student-players of the zone to further eye on Olympic Games and other world level competitions by practicing hard.

Sharing their experiences at LPU campus, Tournament Director Mahesh Sharma from Patiala, Team Managers and Coaches of visiting universities appreciated LPU’s organizing potentiality. They also congratulated LPU Director of Sports Raj Kumar Sharma, and admired LPU department of sports for smooth conduction of the tournament. All other players, too, shared words of appreciation for present host-ship.

Highlighting, LPU was designated as the organizing body of the championship by Association of Indian Universities (New Delhi), where near 70 teams from different states of the zone had registered for participation. Internationally reputed Director Sports of CSJM University Kanpur Dr R P Singh supervised the event as AIU’s observer along with reputed badminton coaches. LPU’s national level players Rupinder Kaur, Pragati Gupta, Poornima and Karishma displayed the best of Badminton skills as their ideals are India’s ace Badminton players Saina Nehwal and PV(Pusarla Venkata) Sindhu.
