LSAC Global announces Discover Law India Student Ambassador Program to promote legal education
New Delhi: LSAC Global – the Indian subsidiary of the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) – has unveiled the Discover Law India (DLI) Student Ambassador Program to encourage students to pursue a career in law in India. The national program is one of many initiatives LSAC Global is taking to foster a community of aspiring law students who can learn from one another and from current students at LSAC Global Law Alliance colleges all across India.
By forming this student community, LSAC Global aims to assist students in enhancing their leadership and communication skills, creating awareness about the field of law, and encouraging peer to peer learning. Upon enrolment into the program, each student ambassador will conduct events at their school level, such as career fairs, dramas based on law, debate competitions on legal issues, presentations on law school experience, careers in law, etc. Student Ambassadors will have the opportunity to participate in events conducted by LSAC Global.
Applicants interested in joining the DLI Student Ambassador Program should write an essay of about 250-300 words on the topic of “Why do you want to study Law?,” and submit it to [email protected].
Under the DLI Student Ambassador Program, high schools can become host institutes by entering into an agreement with LSAC Global and providing a classroom/online platform and dedicated time for conducting events. Host institutes can nominate and encourage their students to become DLI Student Ambassadors. Additionally, host institutes will also have a chance to interact with other host institutes, as well as host LSAC Global’s events. Participating institutions will receive free Discover Law India banners, an Official LSAC Global certificate, and material for their school.
Speaking about the formation of the DLI Student Ambassador Program, Yusuf Abdul-Kareem, Vice President Emerging Markets, LSAC, said, “At LSAC Global, we are committed to supporting students in their search for answers about a career in law. We know students have lots of questions, so we want to help them along every step of their pre-law journey. The DLI Student Ambassador Program will enable students to share their questions and insights with one another, and hear from law students who have recently gone through the application process. This is just the start of several initiatives we will be launching this year to help the build and strengthen legal education community in India.”
