M.Tech programme at IIT Kanpur
Kanpur: Applications are invited from Indian as well as foreign nationals for admission to M. Tech. programmes commencing from December, 26, 2015 (2015-16-II Semester) in the following departments:
1. M. Tech Chemical Engineering
2. M. Tech Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing Stream only).
IIT KanpurEligibility
The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (4 year program) or a master’s degree in science with marks/CPI (Cumulative Performance Index) not below the specified minimum. A valid GATE score is also required for admission of regular students in M.Tech programmes. The requirement of GATE score is waived for the candidates with B. Tech. degree from IITs with minimum overall CPI of 6.5 and a minimum CPI of 8.0 in the last two years in B.Tech.
Financial Assistance
Financial aid (Assistantship/Scholarship) may be available to a student pursuing M.Tech. Programmes, provided he/she has a valid GATE score. Student is expected to carry out the assigned duties for teaching and Research Assistantship. The M.Tech. student currently carries a monthly stipend of Rs.12,400/- for 8 hours of work per week. In addition several attractive fellowships from Industries/DAE are also available.
Those employed in an industry or a college/university/institute may apply for admission as a sponsored, external or part-time candidate. Further information on these category of admissions is available at

Application Procedure:

The application fee is Rs.400 for General and OBC candidates and Rs.200 for SC/ST and all PD candidates (including General and OBC). The application fee is waived for ‘Foreign National’ candidates. The fee must be paid through a demand draft in favour of ‘The Registrar, IIT Kanpur and payable at Kanpur.
