Madhya Pradesh: Capacity enrichment of Medical Colleges and District Hospitals is must

Bhopal : Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that we do not want less than victory over corona. Government, administration, doctors, para-medical staff and general public are required to work together to reduce the fatality rate of corona. Quick diagnosis of corona suspected patients and providing immediate medical care to them is the best solution for protection and treatment. Testing capacity has to be increased in the state in this regard. The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan instructed to develop the test capacity of 20 thousand per day in the state. During the review of corona, he discussed in detail about the division wise fatality rate, its reasons and on effective strategy for prevention of corona through video conference today. The Chief Minister stressed the need for expansion of awareness campaign, encouragement to home isolation and plasma therapy. All Divisional Commissioners, Deans of Medical Colleges and Medical Specialists participated in the video conference.

CM Shri Chouhan to donate plasma

The Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that he was also found corona positive. Now he is absolutely healthy after the treatment. The Chief Minister further mentioned that his body must have developed antivirus by now. He will donate plasma soon for plasma therapy.

Serious patients in hospitals and patients with normal symptoms should be placed in home isolation

The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has said that now corona virus is spreading in towns and villages from cities. Therefore, awareness campaign on necessary precautions is required to be launched. He directed the Minister for Urban Development and Housing Shri Bhupendra Singh to run a special campaign as regard to use of masks and generating awareness about social distancing and to ensure their compliance. He said that improvement in capacity of medical colleges and district hospitals is also important. Special attention should be paid to ambulance facility to ensure that no delay should cause in carrying serious patients suffering from the disease immediately to hospitals. Training of district hospitals is must on treatment related protocol and guidelines, institutions like medical colleges and AIIMS will have to play a significant role in this regard. Shri Chouhan further mentioned that in order to ensure proper treatment to serious patients in hospitals, patients with normal symptoms should be encouraged for home isolation. In this, to ensure real time monitoring, the use of app and other necessary means should be ensured. Shri Chouhan also instructed to increase the contact tracing and hundred percent use of masks.

Media briefing will be done at division level

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the purpose of this review is not to point out the shortcomings of doctors and paramedical staff. They are our Corona warriors, it is necessary to boost their morale and enthusiasm. A programme will soon be organized to honour Corona warriors. The Chief Minister also directed to organize media briefings at the division level to make the actual information on the situation of Corona open to the public. During the video conference, Additional Chief Secretary Health Shri Mohammad Suleman informed that a “Sahyog se Suraksha Abhiyan’ will be launched from August 15 for public awareness.

Public protection from negativity must

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that there is need to protect the general public from negativity during Corona infection. We must ensure that people, especially those who are affected by the infection, do not fall prey to depression. For this, entertainment, indoor games, music, television, meditation and yoga and motivational speeches etc. should be arranged in hospitals.

Call centres assist in guidance

The Divisional Commissioner and Dean of concerned medical college took part in the division-wise review held at the video conference. A strategy to initiate immediate treatment by identifying early symptoms through awareness and surveys in Indore has helped to control the situation. Along with this, the situation is being reviewed daily by the administration and doctors on the basis of administrative review and clinical facts. Similarly, presentations were made by Bhopal, Jabalpur, Sagar, Rewa, Gwalior Medical College. In the video conference, Director, AIIMS Bhopal emphasized the need to develop an effective call centre system to guide Corona patients who are infected and those who are prone to it.

Services of psychologists should be available to Corona patients

Medical Education Minister Shri Vishwas Sarang emphasized the need to issue clear guidelines regarding home isolation. Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Prabhuram Chaudhary said that wherever psychologists are available, it should be ensured that Corona patients are provided with their services. Chief Secretary Shri Iqbal Singh Bains informed that a detailed advisory and guide line on prevention and treatment of Corona patients will be issued to all the districts based on the findings of today’s discussion. Suggestions were also made by Dr. Nishant Khare, Dr. Lokendra Dave and other medical experts in the video conference.

Key points of Corona review

Death audit along with treatment audit will be ensured.

Formation of Expert Group to study the treatment process of serious patients with a view to improve the treatment and system.

Focus on giving information about risks of Corona along with generating public awareness.

Developing a treatment strategy based on continuous spread of Corona symptoms.

Developing a fixed checklist for testing symptoms and updating it from time to time.

Constant review of infection control protocol.

Ensuring effective measures to protect doctors and paramedical staff from infection.

Responsibility of monitoring Corona ward should be entrusted to senior doctors.

Implement a team-based approach of doctors for critically ill patients.

To ensure continuous training of paramedical staff as per the updated protocol of Corona treatment.

Connecting locally available doctors and other paramedical staff with the Corona infection identification process.

To ensure a simple and convenient protocol for referring potential and infected Corona patients to Covid Care Centres and Dedicated Centres.

Ensuring availability of thermal guns, pulse oximeters and other testing equipment.

Responsibility of monitoring district hospitals to AIIMS and Medical College.

Special arrangements for identification of patients above 60 years of age suffering from other serious ailments.
