Madhya Pradesh first state to conduct authentic survey on migrant labourers

Bhopal : Many significant facts have come to light in the survey of migrant labourers. Among the labourers who have returned from other states to Madhya Pradesh during the Corona crisis, there are 27 thousand 721 labourers who are blacksmiths and carpenters and 16 thousand 900 labourers working as drivers. Similarly, one lakh 76 thousand 682 are engaged in construction of building and structures, 99 thousand 26 in agriculture sector, 37 thousand 805 in brick and tile manufacturing, 27 thousand 26 working in shops and restaurants, 20 thousand 124 in loading work, 16 thousand 208 in masonry, 12 thousand 629 in private security, 10 thousand 784 engaged as rehdi / hawkers, 10 thousand 356 in textile industry, 9 thousand 464 in garment industry, 8 thousand 252 in plastic and chemical industry, 7 thousand 939 as rickshaw drivers and 6 thousand 302 labourers engaged in painting work.

In the migrant labourers survey campaign conducted from May 27 to June 6 in the state, 7 lakh 30 thousand 311 migrant laborers, who were originally residents of Madhya Pradesh, have come under the survey. Apart from this, a total of 13 lakh 10 thousand 186 labourers, including 5 lakh 79 thousand 875 members of their families, were identified in the survey. Madhya Pradesh is the first state to have completed an authentic survey of migrant workers. The survey is mainly based on Samagra ID and Aadhaar card. The survey was conducted by the Secretary, Rozgar Sahayaks in Gram Panchayats and wards in-charge in urban areas through mobile app developed by NIC.

The Madhya Pradesh government gave priority to bringing labourers back from other states and providing them employment right from the start. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan reviewed the campaign of bringing back workers daily. While employment was ensured under MNREGA to them on his instructions, action is being taken to provide employment in various industrial areas through the Rozgar Setu Portal.

Among the migrant labourers, 54 thousand 817 labourers of Balaghat district, 48 thousand 862 of Chhatarpur, 47 thousand 747 of Morena, 45 thousand 336 of Rewa, 39 thousand 480 of Satna, 31 thousand 704 of Sidhi, 28 thousand 703 of Bhind, 26 thousand 991 of Panna, 25 thousand 806 of Seoni and 24 thousand 365 labourers of Tikamgarh have returned to their respective districts. Along with this, some migrant workers have also come to Indore, Bhopal and Narsinghpur district.

Among the migrant labourers, 3 lakh 75 thousand 779 are in the age group of 18 to 30 year, one lakh 94 thousand 568 in 30 to 40 age group, one lakh 13 thousand 950 in 40 to 50 age group, 40 thousand 24 in the age group 50 to 60 and 5 thousand 768 labourers above 60.

All the labourers were given ration every month under the Pradhan Mantri Khadyann Yojana. Employment fairs will also be organized in the months of June-July to provide employment to the migrant labourers.
