Madhya Pradesh Government has complete focus on quality improvement in education: Minister Dr. Chowdhary

Bhopal : In a media workshop held here today, the Minister for School Education Dr. Prabhuram Chowdhary said that the complete focus of the state government is centered on quality improvement in education. Constant innovations and reformative steps are being taken in this direction.

Exposure Visit

Minister Dr. Chowdhary informed that keeping in view the improvement in quality, the departmental officers, principals and teachers were taken on a visit to local private schools and schools of Delhi, Noida and South Korea so that the education system of international standard could be introduced in the state.

Effective action on basic issues

Minister Dr. Chowdhary said that emphasis has been laid on the proper copy checking system. An intensive campaign was conducted for improvement in copy checking. The officers of the state and district level after visiting the schools have ensured that the copies of the students should be checked in correct manner. He further stated that the copies being checked by the teachers in about 3000 schools have been examined under the campaign. A disciplinary action was also taken against the teachers who did not check the copy and did not mention the correction. An action was also taken to stop the increment of teachers and to deduct salaries, which have made mistakes. Showcause notices were issued to the teachers who were negligent.

Action against teachers for poor examination result

Dr. Prabhuram Chaudhary informed that the examination was conducted to assess the efficiency of teachers who gave less than thirty percent examination results, which had covered more than 6000 teachers. Training was also conducted to improve the efficiency of teachers. A disciplinary action was taken against the teachers whose examination results were not good.

Interaction between Parents and Teachers

Minister Dr. Prabhuram informed that an arrangement has been made to hold regular Parents-Teachers meeting (PTM) to establish dialogues between parents and teachers. Discussion was held between the parents and teachers on students profiling, efficiency upgradation, work book, Pratibha-Parva Result, bridge course and half yearly examination. About 40 lakh parents took part in these meetings. Apart from this, on Bal Diwas, a letter ‘Priya Abhibhavak’ was sent to the parents, wherein parents were appealed to pay attention on their studies for quality and efficiency improvement of the students.

Annual Examination on Board Pattern

The State Government has taken a decision for annual assessment of class 5th and 8th students on borad pattern in the current academic session. The students are required to secure 33 percent marks to pass class 5th and 8th examinations. If they fail to secure 33 percent marks, examination will be conducted again after 2 months.

Encouragement to teachers

Dr. Prabhuram Chowdhary further informed that a Samman Yojana, the ‘Wall of Fame’ has been launched in the state. This scheme has been started to give honour and encouragement to the efforts being made by the teachers and schools for upgradation of basic efficiency of class 3rd upto 8th students. This include three categories Bronze, Silver and Gold Championship. This is based on the percent of the students, who receive basic efficiency in the Baseline/Middle Line and End Line Test. Under this scheme, this year, 851 Gold Championship, 2187 Silver Championship and 4566 Bronze Championship certificates including awards were given to total 7600 schools.

Online Transfer of teachers

Under the transparent procedure, the transfer of the teachers was done online this year. This system had facilitated posting of around 35 thousand teachers at the places of their own choice.

Youth Club

Efforts were made to develop consciousness towards the scientific aptitude, health and environment conservation in students and to provide an opportunity to them to develop interest and skills in the field of cultural, intellectual, sports, arts and handicrafts activities. Dr. Prabhuram Chowdhary informed that Vigyan Mitra Club in all the Middle Schools and Youth and Eco-Club has been formed in all the primary schools to involve the students in various activities after the school hours.

Academic Interaction

The School Education Minister informed that under the PEER Learning, academic dialogues are being organized on one day of the last week every month at Sankul level. This is being organized to exchange views of teachers and share their class-teaching experiences and solutions to the problems. In these academic interactions, teachers get solutions by discussing the achievements and problems of their subjects and classes.

NCERT Curriculum

Minister Dr. Chowdhary informed that the NCERT curriculum has been introduced in the state in order to make students capable for better performance in national level competitive examinations. In the academic session 2019-20, the NCERT curriculum of social science for class 6th to 10th and arts for class 11th have already been introduced. In the year 2021-22, this curriculum in all subjects will be introduced gradually for the students of class 9th to 12th in all the schools.

Efficiency improvement

Dr. Chowdhary said that under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, over 12 lakh children were given free admission in the classes enrolled in the private schools by reserving 25 percent seats for the children of weaker section. He mentioned that the shortage of teachers are being met out gradually. Eligibility test has been conducted for Higher Secondary School Teachers and Middle School Teachers category. Under this, around 22 thousand teachers will be appointed soon.

Ek Parisar-Ek Shala

Minister Dr. Chowdhary said that the schools run by the School Education Department in separate units under one campus have been integrated. All the classes of one campus are being conducted like one unit. This will increase availability of class wise and subject wise teachers in one campus. Moreover, this will also help in enhancing quality, keeping in view the all round development of the students. He further added that 35 thousands schools located in 16 thousand campuses have been merged by identifying them in the form of ‘Ek Parisar-Ek Shala’.

STEAM Conclave

Moreover, Dr. Chowdhary has informed that in order to educate children according to the21st Century, the STEAM based education system will be introduced to develop creativity, critical analysis, collaborative learning, communication and other skills in the students. A two-day Steam Conclave was organized on October 30 and 31 to hold discussions in this connection. The subject experts of national and international standard, organizations connected to education, representatives of government and private schools of the state and teachers took part in the conclave.

Real Time Assessment of Students through ‘Kaksha Sathi’ App

Furthermore, the Minister for School Education informed that under the pilot project, children are being educated in 13 schools of the state through Kaksh Sathi App. This will help in Real Time Assessment of the students. Teaching through this App in 8 schools of Bhopal district and 5 schools in Raisen district has been started.

Dr. Chowdhary said that efforts are being made to improve the basic infrastructure and resources to bring the state in the category of the leading states in the country in the field of education as well as meeting out the shortage of teachers and empowering schools to develop them in high quality educational institutions.

Minister for School Education Dr. Chowdhary further mentioned that special attention is being paid on elementary education of children because pre-primary education ensure cognitive, mental and physical ability of children. This helps in building strong foundation of the children from the beginning itself. He informed that a pilot project is being implemented for pre-primary education in 5 districts Chhindwara, Bhopal, Sagar, Shahdol and Sehore. This will be implemented at large scale in future.
