Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon reviews activities of Hindi and Sanskrit Universities

Bhopal : The Governor Shri Lalji Tandon has said that efforts should be made to reveal the Indian Culture, knowledge, philosophy and skills, hidden in the pages of history before the country and world. Universities must come forward to expand Indian Culture and Knowledge and work to present its utility before the country and world. This will help in enhancing a feeling of respect and pride in the new generation. Shri Tandon was reviewing the activities of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi Vishwavidyalaya and Maharishi Paanini Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya at Raj Bhavan today.

During the review of Paanini Vishwavidyalaya, the Governor Shri Tandon said that the university by understanding its role, should make efforts for its publicity in harmony of Sanskrit and culture. Efforts should be made to showcase the knowledge of Indian Sages before the world. Shri Tandon further mentioned that Sanskrit is not just a language but a whole culture. The Shastrarth tradition of Sanskrit is a characteristic of the Indian culture and because of this the greatest social change in India has taken place without bloodshed, whereas it did not become possible in any country in the world.

While reviewing the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, the Governor said that the research, technology and medical science of the world based on the country’s knowledge, the students of the same country are compelled to obtain knowledge in foreign language. He said that the university has been established to change this situation. University should get all sort of cooperation to achieve its goals. He directed the university management for preparing and presenting a vision document of the university. He further mentioned that the university should take responsibility to make available the knowledge of books of other languages in Hindi language. Effective efforts should be made with coordination of other universities in this direction, he added.

The Governor said that all the basic requirements of the universities should be fulfilled and they should get grant as per their nature and responsibilities. He stressed the need for making the University Grant System transparent and to determine the policy as regard to the allocation of grant.

The Principal Secretary Higher Education Shri Hariranjan Rao, Secretary to Governor Shri Manohar Dubey and Vice Chancellors of the universities were present on the occasion.
