Madhya Pradesh : Re. One increase in additional cess on petrol and diesel owing to decline in revenue collection due to Covid

Bhopal : Owing to the decline in revenue collection because of Covid-19 pandemic and for Corona related arrangement, the state government has made increase of Re. one in the current additional cess imposed on petrol and diesel. As per the order issued by the Commercial Taxes department, this increase will come in effect from June 13.

As a result, the rates of the petrol and diesel will increase by Re. One per litre. Earlier, the additional cess on petrol was Rs. 3.50 and Rs. 2 on diesel. After the increase, now the additional cess on petrol and diesel will become Rs. 4.5 and Rs. 3 respectively.

It is estimated that due to this increase, the state government will receive additional revenue of Rs. 200 crore from petrol and Rs. 370 crore from diesel annually.
