Mahila Shakti Kendra Doda organises awareness program on prevention of Child Abuse

Doda: Mahila Shakti Kendra Doda, in collaboration with Childline Doda, today organised an awareness program on Prevention of Child Abuse at a far flung Gujjar Basti area of Thathiri Sub Division.

The objective of the awareness program was to promote the rights of children with disabilities, to sensitize parents and teachers on the effects of abuse on children’s development and to empower children if ever confronted with abuse including sexual abuse.

Women Welfare Officer, Kewal Krishan along with District Coordinator Humerah Balwan explained the participants about the various aspects of child abuse that are sometimes neglected by parents.

The District Coordinator Childline, Meenakshi shared her knowledge about various abuses faced by children. She said that there is dire need to eradicate this growing menace of child abuse. She asked parents to contact the Childline at helpline no 1098 in case of any assistance regarding children and filing a case against the accused.

The team also hosted a drawing competition for the children of Gujjar Basti and distributed refreshments among them.
