MakeMyTrip announces mandatory paid time off for employees to overcome pandemic-induced fatigue as part of its wellness initiatives

Mumbai: MakeMyTrip (NASDAQ:MMYT), India’s leading online travel company, has introduced a series of new employee initiatives to help employees reset and recharge as part of its wellness initiatives during the pandemic which has altered the way we live and work.

 

Among the various initiatives rolled out for its employees, the company has introduced mandatory paid time off to be availed before the end of this year. Through the initiative, the company hopes to encourage its employees to take a pause, disconnect from official commitments, and revitalize themselves by choosing to spend time with their loved ones or taking a much-needed holiday.

 

While the company follows an unlimited leave policy, the mandatory paid time off has been announced to ensure that every employee takes the time to embrace change and emerge resilient as we live through this unpredictable period of time. Employees will take a no questions asked paid time off for three working days before 31st December, 2021 and will be encouraged to club these offs with a weekend to get an extended long break. All managers will help their teams forward plan their leaves to ensure no impact on productivity even as employees get some respite from the work-from-home fatigue.

 

Speaking on the relevance of these initiatives, Yuvaraj Srivastava, Group Chief Human Resource Officer, MakeMyTrip, says “Our employees are our biggest assets and their well-being is our top most priority. We have made several interventions from time to time – be it introducing new initiatives or iterating existing processes as we continue with new ways of working thrust upon us as a result of the pandemic.
