Vijayawada: On the occasion of World Heart Day, Manipal Hospital Vijayawada conducted a Yoga & Fitness (Zumba Dance) awareness, in association with Red FM 93.5, at KL University. The event saw a footfall of close to 200+ people.

The event started with an informative and enlightening talk by Dr. Sudhakar Kantipudi – Hospital Director, on the importance of keeping a healthy heart, followed by a health talk by Dr. N. Murali Krishna – Sr. Consultant Cardiologist. The hospital also launched a specially curated Angiogram / CT Angiogram package on the occasion, which includes two cardiac consultations, Complete blood count (CBC), random blood sugar (RBS), ECG, etc., among other investigations. Post this, the students and the team from Manipal Hospitals participated in the 3-hour fitness awareness session.

Speaking at the event, Dr. N. Murali Krishna said, “These days, heart failures are common across all age groups. There has been a significant increase in the cases of heart attacks in younger age groups, people in their 30s and 40s. Lack of physical exercise, increase in stress levels and unhealthy food habits are the major causes for heart problems, besides excessive smoking and drinking. When you compare to other countries, Indians are more prone to experiencing heart failures at a younger age. This can be improved by following a healthy and active lifestyle. Current projections are a wake-up call for all of us to begin adopting a healthy lifestyle.”

Adding to this Dr. Sudhakar Kantipudi, said, “Manipal Hospitals Vijayawada has always been committed to creating awareness on major lifestyle diseases that will potentially affect the common man. Considering the growing incidence and higher morbidity of heart failure patients, there is a need for spreading awareness and educating people on the ways they can take care of their heart health. We are providing more services, such as dedicated prevention of heart failure programs, that provide end-to-end and comprehensive treatment for all phases of heart diseases. We at Manipal Hospitals Vijayawada are committed to this cause through our patient-centric facilities, expert specialists, and track record of best-in-class outcomes.”

Murali Krishna, Dr. Sandeep N – Consultant Cardiologist, Dr. Srinivas Babu – Consultant CTVS, Dr. Monica E Florence – Cardiologist and Dr. Anil Kumar – Consultant Anaesthetist, and all the participants.
