Market inspection intensified at Ganderbal

 

Ganderbal: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna, the market checking squad along with the officials of FCS&CA today held inspections of several markets of the district.

In view of the rising demand of essential commodities during the holy month of Ramadan, the DC has directed all the concerned officers to ensure regular inspections of markets falling within their jurisdictions to ensure availability of quality products and to curb black marketing, hoarding and profiteering of essential commodities.

During the checking, the officials warned the traders to desist from using unfair trade practices and strict action shall be initiated against those indulging in overpricing and other malpractices especially during the holy month.

The Checking squad also urged the shopkeepers to strictly adhere to the Covid-19 protocols issued by administration for their own safety and for the safety of the public as well.

The shopkeepers were urged to sell commodities as per the rates notified by the government and follow the rules in letter and spirit.

Meanwhile, a joint team of FCS&CA comprising Food Safety Officer Kangan and TSO in association with Naib Tehsildar Gund conducted extensive Market Checking of different areas of Kangan subdivision viz Mammer, Ganiwan, Gund, Rayil, Kullan and Gagangeer.

The squad imposed a fine of Rs. 4700 on erring traders under EC Act and Food Safety & Standard Act-2006.

Moreover, all Food Business operators falling under Kangan Sub-Division especially Chicken & Mutton vendors were directed to follow the rate lists & Sanitation/hygiene strictly and adhere to Covid-19 SOPs in letter & Spirit.
